As a sucker for an urban American woodcut, I’m rather taken by Mississippi Night Lights (Minneapolis) by New York-based artist Yvonne Jacquette. It dates from 1986 and is up for auction soon.


There are a couple of fine images in the ‘Made In Britain’ sale coming up at Sotheby’s on 13th September. Above, Building Aircraft : Making Engines  by CRW Nevinson and from a 1917 series of wartime works produced by the UK government, and below, from 1920, Paul Nash’s Promenade No.1.
