Here’s a 1930s curiosity, credited to ‘zur Linde, Hamburg’ which I assume is a design studio. The chap in the poster is obviously beaming with orange-induced vitality, but my O-level German tells me that the slogan reads ‘healthiness from apple trees.’

Update from @devinplatts, who is a much better linguist than I, apfelsine=orange (literally, ‘Chinese apple’).

Fancy a trip to India?

It only takes 96 days in a Wolseley, according to this 1925 Edward McKnight Kauffer poster celebrating Major Forbes-Leith’s “marvellous journey”. There is so much going on here visually, that it ought not to work, but it does, brilliantly. There a Pathe film here suggesting the whole venture actually began in Leeds.
