Victorian London- Late 1800s

@LdnMetArchives: Amazing #architecture in our first 2016 #COLLAGEreboot tweet with photography of the construction of #TowerBridge

(can’t help humming So Overt It’s Covert whilst looking at these)

The Tin Tabernacle in Kilburn is a magnificently odd place, not least because the interior is fitted out like a battleship.

This reflects its current use as an HQ for the Sea Scouts. Dating from 1863 and grade II listed, it is reckoned to be the biggest tin church in the country.

The disused Haggerston swimming pool – one shot from a great photo essay on this much neglected facility by Simon Mooney and featured on The Gentle Author’s Spitalfields Life blog, here. There’s a public meeting on 7th October to discuss the future of the pool, which is Grade II listed.
