A very 1950s (1954 to be precise) TWA poster from an uncredited artist. Not sure that this would encourage many flights to London.


Abram Games designed this cover for a 1953 issue of Graphis magazine which had an extensive feature about his work, noting that he had produced over 160 published posters during his career to date. As ever, there’s a mastery of shape and space here that other 20th century designers found difficult to match

Here’s the Columbia (now Curzon) cinema and office block above in Shaftesbury Avenue looking clean and sparkly in 1964, five years after opening. The architects were Sir John Burnet, Tait and Partners. The possibility of Crossrail 2 means that it’s currently under threat. Photo:
